Family Crisis Center of East Texas Food Drive Runs Through August 28

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas food drive is collecting nonperishable groceries through Friday, August 28, for its emergency shelter in Lufkin.

The Safehouse serves three meals and snacks each day to roughly 30 adults and children seeking safety. Staff say the greatest current need is unexpired canned and boxed items: peanut butter, canned beans, corn, green beans, diced tomatoes, pasta, cereal, tuna, crackers, ramen, coffee and creamer, sugar, cake mix, syrup, and dish soap.

Drop-offs are accepted at any Family Crisis Center outreach office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call ahead for the San Augustine, Crockett, and Nacogdoches offices to be sure staff are present. The Lufkin office is at 2401 Davisville Road; contact Mallory Harris at 936-639-1681.
