A Lufkin police Flock camera indictment has been handed up against Zachary Anthony Klein, an 11-year veteran of the department. Klein is charged with 100 counts of misuse of official information, each a third-degree felony, after investigators say he used the city’s Flock license plate reader network more than 10,000 times to track an ex-girlfriend and people connected to her.
According to the arrest affidavit, the searches ran from June 2024 through December 2025. The Lufkin Police Department received a public information request on August 14 that triggered an internal audit, which showed the queries were inconsistent with any active criminal investigation. LPD reported the findings to the Texas Rangers, who arrested Klein this month.
Klein, 32, was booked into the Angelina County Jail with bonds totaling $700,000. In response to the case, Lufkin PD has suspended its entire Flock camera grid while the investigation and any policy review continue.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
