The Colmesneil animal cruelty case ended this week with a Colmesneil woman being sentenced after pleading guilty to animal cruelty charges. Investigators found more than 130 dead dogs on her property during the underlying investigation.
The case has drawn attention from animal welfare groups across East Texas and is one of the largest cruelty investigations in the region in recent memory.
Anyone who suspects animal cruelty in the 936 area can report it to their local sheriff’s office or animal control. Presumption of innocence applies to any person named in ongoing cases until conviction.
