The Texas Department of Transportation’s Bryan District is taking public comments through Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, on its I-14 Central Texas Corridor Study. The study covers a roughly 125-mile corridor from Rogers in Bell County east to Huntsville in Walker County, and looks at whether a route built to interstate highway standards is feasible.
The current round presents proposed route concepts. In the 936, the study area reaches Walker County (Huntsville), Madison County (Madisonville) and Grimes County (Navasota).
The comment period was first set to close Sept. 10. TxDOT extended it to Oct. 12, citing high public turnout and interest at the August open houses, including sessions at the Walker County Fairgrounds in Huntsville, the Kimbro Center in Madisonville and the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Those open houses are over; the comment window is what remains open.
