Jasper County voters get another chance Monday to speak up on whether the county should switch to countywide voting for elections starting in 2027.
The Jasper County Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Jasper County Courthouse at 121 N. Austin St. in Jasper. The topic is a proposal for the county to conduct countywide voting.
Under a countywide voting model, any registered Jasper County voter would be able to cast a ballot at any participating vote center on Election Day, rather than only at an assigned precinct polling place. The change would take effect starting with elections in 2027 if adopted.
Per the notice signed by County Judge Mark W. Allen and filed by County Clerk Holly Thomas, commissioners may be present to receive information, but no action is scheduled and no other agenda items will be discussed during the hearing. Monday's session follows a first public hearing held Wednesday, September 23, at the same location.
