A Lufkin man is being held on $500,000 in bonds on deadly conduct and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrants after Angelina County deputies said he fired seven or eight shots at a home on Ted Trout Drive early Thursday, Oct. 1, according to court records and probable cause affidavits.
Branden Denis Hanak, 41, was booked into the Angelina County Jail and remained in custody Monday, according to court records. Deputies first responded around 3:36 a.m. Thursday to a public service call at the Ted Trout Drive home, where a man told deputies Hanak arrived in a dark-colored Range Rover, displayed a handgun after being told to leave, and said the man’s “days were numbered,” an affidavit states.
About 50 minutes later, the resident called deputies back, saying Hanak returned and fired seven or eight shots near the end of the driveway before driving toward Lufkin, according to the affidavit. Deputies recovered eight 9 mm shell casings at the scene and traced Hanak’s SUV to a home in the Rollingwood area, affidavits state.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and found Hanak inside the home’s kitchen area, where he was arrested without further incident, according to the affidavit.
