Lufkin has a new city attorney. Whitney Duke Danner, a Lufkin native, takes the role on Aug. 26 following a formal search and a closed session city council vote.
The city attorney advises council and staff on ordinances, contracts, open meetings compliance and litigation. It is the seat that quietly shapes how every other decision at city hall gets made.
Hiring someone who grew up here matters for a city that has spent recent years working to keep local talent local. Danner steps in as Lufkin works through budget season and continued growth pressure across Angelina County.
