The Nacogdoches County budget for fiscal year 2027 could include a tax rate increase as commissioners work to close pay gaps for county workers. County leaders said the added revenue would help bring employee compensation in line with comparable positions and address aging technology systems.
Commissioners pointed to staffing challenges and outdated IT infrastructure as key drivers behind the proposal. Raising worker pay, they said, is aimed at keeping and attracting qualified employees across county departments.
No final rate has been set. The county will continue budget discussions before adopting a tax rate and spending plan for the coming year.
