A single-engine plane crash on FM 343 in Nacogdoches County left both occupants with minor injuries on Wednesday, according to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office. Both people were out of the aircraft and reported in good condition when first responders arrived.
The sheriff’s office said the plane came down just east of CR 829, between the Nat and Loco-Valley communities, and came to rest in the wood line just off the roadway. The flight had been in the air about 10 minutes after leaving the Rusk County airport in Henderson, headed for the A.L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport in Nacogdoches.
Nacogdoches County deputies and the Lilbert-Looneyville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate. The aircraft is expected to stay at the site until the FAA review is complete and crews can safely remove it, with sheriff’s deputies patrolling the area until then.
