Drivers in Angelina, Houston, Sabine, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Nacogdoches, San Augustine and Shelby counties should plan around a full week of TxDOT Lufkin District closures from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2, according to the district’s weekly project update.
Lane closures are planned on US 59 in Livingston and US 69 near Zavalla for cable median barrier work, on FM 324 north of Lufkin for a bridge replacement, and on SL 287 at the Southwood Drive exit ramp in Lufkin for widening operations. On the Corrigan Relief Route in Polk County, crews will continue main-lane bridge, subgrade and shoulder work along US 287, and on US 59 at Morgan Creek in Polk County northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane while bridge pilings are installed.
In Houston County, SL 304 overlay work and rehabilitation on FM 2076 will require flaggers or pilot cars, and crews will begin work on FM 3016 rehabilitation on Oct. 1. Nacogdoches County drivers can expect ongoing bridge and paving work between US 59 and SH 7 at the SL 224 intersection. San Jacinto County crews will continue the US 59 upgrade to interstate standards between Shepherd and Cleveland.
TxDOT notes project timelines can shift because of weather and material availability. Full daily details are in the district’s public weekly update.
