East Texas fire danger is running High to Very High across nearly the entire region this week as heat and dry air settle in. Forecasters are urging residents to hold off on any outdoor burning.
Heat index values are climbing near 105 degrees, and winds picking up to 10 to 15 mph are adding to the risk. With no meaningful rain in sight, grass and brush stay primed to catch and spread quickly.
Residents are asked to check their county’s burn ban status before doing any outdoor burning and to avoid activities that could throw sparks.
