Have your say: TxDOT opens Lufkin District bike plan map for comment Oct. 13 through Nov. 6

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Lufkin District is asking the public to weigh in on its Lufkin District Bicycle Plan. The first of three interactive maps, Bikeway Functions, is open for comment from Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Nov. 6, 2026.

The map shows the recommended bikeway function for state roadways in the district. Participants review the map online and leave input. There is no in-person meeting for this round.

The Lufkin District covers Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby and Trinity counties.

TxDOT says two more maps will follow for comment: Bicycle Tourism Trail Refinements and Corridor Prioritization. Dates for those have not been posted.

How to comment: Use the interactive map and online survey linked from TxDOT’s notice page. All comments must be received on or before Nov. 6, 2026.

Anyone who needs an accommodation to take part can call TxDOT at 214-535-7261 at least five business days before the Nov. 6 deadline. Questions about the plan can go to the TxDOT Lufkin District office, 1805 N. Timberland Drive, Lufkin, at 936-633-4486.
