The Lufkin 2027 budget was adopted unanimously by the City Council on Monday at $94.6 million, keeping the property tax rate at 52.8215 cents per $100 of taxable value, according to reports from The Lufkin Daily News and KLTV.
The spending plan funds employee raises, adds new positions, and includes investment in public safety technology. Council members also advanced proposed fee increases for ambulance services, zoo admission, and youth sports programs. Those fee changes now move to further public review before taking effect.
City leaders said the flat tax rate combined with fee adjustments was intended to spread the cost of rising services more directly to the residents using them.
