Stargazers across the 936 have a treat coming this week as the Perseid meteor shower, one of the best of the year, reaches its peak.
The show is expected to peak the night of Wednesday, August 12 into the early morning hours of Thursday, August 13. For the best view, head away from city lights, give your eyes time to adjust to the dark, and look up.
East Texas skies offer plenty of rural spots with wide, dark horizons, making the region a good place to catch the display.
