The City of Willis in Montgomery County lifted its citywide boil water notice on Thursday, Oct. 2, two days after a Sept. 30 water main break drove citywide pressure below state limits and forced Willis ISD to bring in bottled water for every campus.
Mayor William Brown announced the lift on the city’s official social media after Willis sent water samples for state-required testing on Oct. 2 and the results came back negative.
“All water samples have been tested, and the results came back negative,” Brown said in the city’s post. “The water has been cleared, and residents may return to normal water use.”
In a news release from Willis ISD chief communications officer Sarah Blakelock, the district said the city restored water service to Roark, Cannan, Hardy, Parmley, Lynn Lucas and Stubblefield campuses, and expected service to the remaining campuses “very soon.” The district had been handing out bottled water and using sanitization kits since the pressure drop.
