The Nacogdoches County jail bonds cleared a key step Monday as commissioners approved issuance of $75 million in voter-approved bonds for the new detention facility, with the design phase set to include public input sessions.
Commissioners took the vote during their regular meeting, according to the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel. Voters authorized the bond package at the ballot box earlier, and the issuance formally starts the clock on financing and design work for the replacement jail.
County officials said the design process will include public input meetings so residents can weigh in on the facility’s layout and features before construction plans are finalized. Meeting dates have not yet been announced.
