A Kirbyville overdose death has led to felony drug and weapons arrests after Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 3000 block of FM 82 West about 2:43 a.m. Sunday and found one person deceased. Deputies said they recovered controlled substances and firearms during the on-scene investigation.
Joshua Lowery, 41, and Matthew Laney, 37, both of Kirbyville, were charged with felony drug possession. Neither man has been charged in connection with the death, which remains under investigation.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said the case is active and additional charges are possible pending toxicology and forensic results.
