The Walker County Hospital District board voted Thursday to adopt an $11.02 million budget for 2027 and a lower 2026 property tax rate, actions that set the district’s portion of the property tax bill for property owners across Walker County.
The vote came at the district’s regular board meeting held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in the Blalock Room on the sixth floor of the First National Bank Building at 1300 11th Street in Huntsville. The meeting agenda posted on the district’s website listed the proposed 2026 tax rate and proposed 2027 WCHD budget for discussion.
Some residents used the meeting to again press the board on its financial practices and transparency. WCHD administrator remarks after the vote responded to those criticisms, according to the Huntsville Item’s account of the meeting.
The full agenda and a Taxpayer Impact Statement for the Sept. 24 meeting are posted on the district’s Meeting Information page.
